Problem with Vectra 2.2

Hi Everyone

Could do with some advice/help if possible.

Got a Vectra (54 Plate) 2.2 Sri Direct, the other day car was struggling to get past 20mph. Took it to VX and they said something about actuator/swirls need replacing - £700!! Took it to my local garage and they replaced the actuator, but the car was still knackered. Now they are going to try replacing the swirls but they arent confident that this will cure it.

Anyone had the same problem? Any advice would be great.

Could be that mate as its a common fault on the direct, but it could also be the high pressure fuel pump/reg and thats a hefty sum as well. Did you get the codes read?

got the codes read by vauxhall, they didnt give me the number just mumbled about swirl actuator valves need replacing.
my gagage now say they are gonna replace the "flaps"? dunno what this is, but they did say the car was firing on 3 cylinders instead of the 4.
my garage are doing the trial n error route to find the solution, just thought one of you lads may know what is going on with this car.
Gonna get it fixed then sold iam afraid, one problem after the other, timing chain done last year, now this! VW Fox for me next!

The actuator opens and shuts the flaps. I'd imagine a simple bench test would have shown if either were at fault.

same symptoms as my direct when it slipped the timing!

My timing chain slipped last year, replaced under warranty. So hope its not that saga again.

Garage have just called to say the actuator and swirls are working fine, but its still not right, still not firing on all 4 cylinders. They think it maybe the high pressure fuel pump, well diagnosed rushy. god this all sounds expensive!!
