Default HIDS and new car warranty

Simple question (I hope) - what are the implications to a new car's warranty if you retro fit HIDS?

they should not affect or invalidate your warranty - but as manufactuters have a clause written into the warranty stating "modification" you may wish to ask the question to your local vx dealer OR vx themselves - who would be able to confirm an answer in writing

but i cannot see how a "uprated" bulb would invalidate any part of the mechanical warranty as this would be all that would in essence really be covered - most "bulbs" would have no warranty other than at PDI

Was thinking more along the lines of the warranty implications of wiring in the ballasts and any other wiring mods that are required for an aftermarket HID setup.

well as they wire "in line" with existing wiring - there is no real mods to the wiring - i take it that none of the retrofitted kits have actually damaged any manufacturer components and the onus would be on the manufacturer/dealer to prove that the fault/damage was induced by the hid kit

A separate thing to consider is asking your insurance company if fitting a HID will affect your policy. I notified mine as it was a modification to the standard specification of the car. They made a note on my policy that I've fitted an aftermarket HID kit but didn't increase the premium (Direct Line).

ive got a 08 with hids i asked about it they jst said that the head lights wouldnt be covered becuase i had to drill a 20mm hole in the back of the cover to get the wires thro but if it came to it i would jst get new covers lol oh btw make sure when you drill it it has a good seal or your head light will steam up and u get water marks on the inside happened to my clio lol.........ps if its the facelift then they will just clip into place if its the older one then u will have to cut the bulb wires to get them thro the metal bulb holders its a bit more jiggery pokery
