Back in January 2004, I decided to buy my first Vectra C. So off to the dealers Marshall Leicester to place my order.
It was to be a Vectra SRi 2.2 DTi SRi, however after 3 weeks I got a call from Vauxhall to say that the new 1.9 CDTi was being brought forward and was asked if I wanted the 120 or the 150.
So the SRi 1.9 CDTi 150 was ordered. Spec was :-
Silver Lightning Paint
Full Leather Interior with heated Seats
NCDC 2013 Satallite Navigation with 4-Disc CD Changer
Colour Screen upgrade
Rear Window Sunblinds
18" 11 Spoke Alloy Wheels.
These pictures were taken after getting the car home part way through March 2004 after it's build at Elsmere Port. It happen to be the 2nd ever 1.9 CDTi ever built at the plant. The first being an Elite 150 for Vauxhall Motors Ltd.
A few weeks later, and I took a trip to Irmscher UK and bought the front spoiler and front grill. The spoiler was painted by Marshall's and this and the grill were fitted.
Also fitted at this time was a Diagnostix tuning box, which did'nt stay on for long as the car did'nt like it.
So this was sold and another trip to Irmscher saw the DTM style rear spoiler and alloy topped grill. Again Marshall's were employed to paint the spoiler and another hour at home to fit the new parts.
The car remained like this for about 12 months, then I eventually put right a mistake I made when I ordered the car. I should have ordered 19's instead of 18's. I managed to get the actual wheels from the Total Vauxhall project car, which were in a poor state so friend Darren Burton re-furbished them for me and fitted new tyres. I also sold the Irmscher front grill and painted the original V-Grill black and also fitted the Signum Chrome Fog Light Surrounds. Finally, the Irmscher Chrome door mirror housings were supplied and fitted.
So in April 2005, it looked like this.
Towards the end of 2005, I was starting to think about the Vectra's replacement, as in March 2006 it would be 2 years old and out of warranty.
My brother decided he wanted to buy the car from me but did not want the cost of tyres for the 19" Wheels. So I sold the 19's to Payney off Vectra-C.com and replaced them with a set of 17" GSi rims which I think looked quite good.
Move forward to August 2008.............................................. ....
The car is still going stronge, Apart from a few dents here and there and scuffed rear bumper, it looked a little untidy in places. However, due to some nice person hitting the front bumper. The bumper was replaced and my brother took the decision to have the car tidied up.
Bonnet painted, passenger dent removed, rear quarter dent removed and a smart repair to the rear bumper bought a new lease of life to the car.
Marshall's were again employed to do the work.
Unfortuanlty I have not got any pictures of the car since the repairs, but it is still looking very good.
The Irmscher front spoiler is now gone and the chrome V Grill in place.
The car up until now has been very good. The only faults in it's entire history was a wiper linkage at 83000 miles and a swirl valve wobble at 65000 miles, but this is still the original manifold.
In March 2008, my bro had a major service carried out with cam belt, water pump tensioners etc. It now has 94000 miles on it and has still proved to be ultra reliable.
I reckon the EGR valve may need to be replace within the next few months but it was my first Vectra c and I loved every minute of it.
I hope you enjoyed reading this car Bio.
