Bus tyres......

Need to change all 4 tyres on my Veccy V6 Estate - First time buying tyres for an estate so unsure exactly what to go for.

Obviously 215/50 are the recommended size, but I am looking at Toyo Proxes (T1-R) and the 215/45s are £25 each cheaper.

What would be the pros and cons of putting these on instead of the 50s - and should these be ok on an estate? Had them on my old Alfa 147 and were great, but that was a much smaller car!

225/45/17 is a Vauxhall approved alternative in the manual mate, check under the tyre pressure onfo. Much cheaper than the factory fit ones...

Th Toyo Proxes T1R's seem to have a very soft sidewall, very noticeable on my Vec B. However, very grippy in both wet and dry. Quite soft and didnt last very long, but sufficient ! Not sure how they would fair up on the Vec C ??

I got a 2.2direct Vec estate and had Pirelli P7's very impressed with them great grip in the wet and were cheap as chips from event-tyres.co.uk

Have found a number of these - Any particular ones I should be looking at, or just the basic ones? Decently priced at £90 for the W's on the basic ones - cant see any real need to go for the Sessanta's unless anyone knows any different?

I had delivered 4 x 215 50 17's W Falken 912, not had them fitted yet as I have approx 1000 -2000 miles left in the old, but I have had falkens before and found them a good tyre, my car is a 150 CDTI SRI estate

I ordered mine from Camskill sunday morning ,they were delivered yesterday, 250 quid £9 delivery, great service from them

£62.50 per tyre is fantastic value for a quality tyre!!

I've got the Falken ZE912's on my car (had them on the front for a while now and just today replaced the Bridgestones on the rear with a pair of the Falkens) and I highly rate them; mid range tyre so quite reasonable price, wear reasonably well and drive excellent,very grippy in the wet. Fairly quiet too

Ran 225/45/17's on my Vec SRi Estate and it handled beautifully. Very slightly more "feel" from the road than the 215/50's if that makes sense, but I liked it like that.

Personally I swear by the Michellin Primacy HP tyres, am yet to find anything that matches them for all round grip and longevity.

I would go for the 225 45 17's. My brother has these on his Vectra now instead of the 215 50 17".

215 45's are too small and will look ridiculas.

Thanks for the input. Will go for the 225/45's then - Probably not the Proxes if they are a touch soft and long particularly long lasting - will check out some of the above.
