    Default Instant steamy windows

    Hi

I have a Vectra 3.2 and had a problem this morning, while overtaking a car on the motorway this morning, my windscreen just on the right side suddenly steamed up, and wouldn't clear even though i put full de-mist on,it just made it worse, plus there was a nasty exhaust smelly type smell came into the car through the vents, ive done all the checks, pollen filter bit dirty but not wet, drain hole clear, set climate at different temps, switch air con on, and nothing, any one else had this problem? seemed wierd only on right side. any suggestions please.....

i take it you have dual zone climate control - one of the recirulation flaps will be stuck or the cog wheel may be damaged - you will need to strip the heater box to find out which

thanks pete, is that in the cabin?? last night going home i risked turning up the temp from LO to HI, god, wish i didn't, steam came rising out of the screen vents, causing the screen to instantly steam up, not just that, it was like a greasy steam and hard to get off, wont do that again till fixed, has this happened to any of you guys?? is it easy to fix/diy or do i hold my hands up and let dick turpin (GARAGE) fix it, also went to buy an haynes manual, manual for vectra didn't cover 3.2 etc etc, !! typical, just my luck..

Check your water level. Has it suddenly dropped at all or more than usual, even just a small amount.

A small leak in the heater radiator (or pipes to it within the air circulation area) may cause this, I had it happen on a different (non Vx) car. As water from this source will contain antifreeze, this element may cause the smell/greasiness.

Yes if there was steam. It does sound like you have a heating/cooling system problem.
