Default There may be trouble ahead! (I certanly hope not!)

    Not a good week.
Firstly I have started to smell exhaust fumes inside the car, coming from the engine bay, so I had a look around and found that the swirl valves rod had come off no2, jaming no 1 and leaving a little movement on 3 and 4.

Much struggling and I got them back on but they are all very loose and I'm just waiting for the rod to fall off again, Found swil valve flaps 1 and 2 to be quite stiff whilst 4 appears to be leaking!!!.

Anyway, the car runs better, the flat spot at 2.5k has gone along with the hesitancy and the huge cloud of black smoke at high revs has gone.

That was lunchtime, coming home from work this evening, the oil light comes on!!!. I only checked the oil level last week and it was perfect.

So stopped the car and checked for leaks, nothing found and no smoke and no sign of oil leak, water levels OK, exhaust has no sign of oily soot and car runs perfectly.

Started up again and light went off!!!. Will check again tomorrow in the light.

Thermostat also playing up starting last week and struggles to keep engine above 70 Deg.

Car has done 75k without any problems now all this lot at once!.

The oil light is the worrying one, could it be somehow related to the swirl valves and thermostat and or exhaust fumes (Leak)?.

Any plausible ideas?, BTW,Using Mobil 1 0W-40 Turbodiesel oil.

Hmmm, just got in from checking the oil and it is indeed low, put in about a litre to get back to the previous level when I checked it a week ago.

Something not right here as there is no sign of oil anywhere and the car is not smoking anymore now that the swirl valves rod is back on.

Has anyone ever heard of the 1.9 (150) suffering the same problems with injectors that the 2.0 DTI can get, where the seals fail and the engine oil ends up in the fuel tank?.
