Default what to look for picking up a 2.2 SRI 53 plate

    Hi guys,
im picking up a Vectra SRI 2.2, 53 plate, 60k on the clock this week

just wondering what the big common faults are with these if any, that i should be aware of and looking for before i take the deal?

any rattles or knocks to listen out for etc would be a great help and im sure ill be on this forum alot more in the near future!

As Sean said mate. It will have the newer type oil jet fitted with it being a 53 plate same as mine however. The engine should start from cold with no rattles. It is imperative that the 2.2 has got a good service record and the oil has been changed at the proper intervals. TBH thats it on the SE. Other than that make sure the dash works fully and the dials dont drop while driving. Most common noises while driving are the droplinks £20 a pair and easy to fit, other than that just the normal things to look out for.

    cheers guys,
look like good cars so far then!, cant wait to collect & start modding

only bad points are very high tax rate and slightly sluggish compared to my last jaguar x type =/

im sure a boost can be given with a decent exhaust etc to give a little more torque but as ive seen with most non aspirated engines not alot of BHP is available to free up on em!

No, Courtenay couldn't even sort it. The way to do it is with resistors, no map needed. The butterfly sits at a different angle to the stock 2.2 one when at say 1/4 throttle input, the ECU sees this as a fault and puts it into limp. The way I see round it is to build a one off using the 2.4 butterfly and trumpet and the 2.2 motor. Funnily enough, the 2.0 SC one which is huge in comparison to the 2.2 TB work fine!? If I could find out if the 2.0T TB and the 2.0 SC TB were the same part then game on as I don't want to import one in from the US.
