Smile difficult changing gear more so when cold

    Hello all,
    I have a Signum 2006 V6 184BHP.
Difficulty in changing gears, took the car to VX dealer, they eventually agreed and replaced both the clutch & flywheel. Yet after this, driving the car seems difficult engaging 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears both going up & down through the box, seems to be worse when cold. The car now has a very low biting point and seems to release quite harsh. Took the car to another VX dealer they said there's a mod out to lower the amount of gearbox oil. They did this and car seemed better although driven when warm/hot. Drove the car later when cold and unfortunately still the same. Went back to VX they did some more investigation and found a 'technical service bulletin' for my car stating that if after reducing the oil level still no improvement then by changing the transmission unit may not cure the problem, therefore they have said they can't do anything else. I have contacted customer services at VX and am awaiting a reply.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mines the same mate. Can be a right pain when cold to select first and reverse. Usually have to put it in third then select first or reverse. Shall be changing the oil and attempting to bleed the clutch at some point. I'm excpecting some improvement but not a fix, just taking it as a 'characteristic' of the box.

Probably the most er ... useful post you'll read all day eh

Not sure V6VC if the problem is related as mine goes in 4th,5th,6th & reverse with no problems?
So Johnny you are having a new gearbox fitted? Is this under warranty and has your problem been mainly 1st,2nd & 3rd gear changes? Have you had anything else changed prior to VX agreeing to change the gearbox? Has it taken much for them to agree to replace the gearbox?
