    Default Vectras had a dunt!!!

Guys parked the car outside in laws house which is on a hill got my 3 year year old daughter out the car and went inside turned to close the door and seen my pride and joy starting to creep down the road so i legged it outside got to the door tried to open it but it was locked by the time i got to my keys it was going far to fast for me to get in safely as it was nose up the hill so had to watch it roll down the road about 150 meters and go through a garden and into a wooden fence!Thank god no kids were playing as they usually do the car is in a fair mess must have been doing 20mph + when it hit the fence back bumper bootlid are screwed back quarter is rippled and its scratched all the way to the front wing but its only a peice of metal at the end of the day at least no one is injured im sure i had the handbrake on but when i got to the car it was off if the handbrake had failed would it still be up or would it have went down to the off position?

Not good mate but at least no one got hurt. If the handbrake mod hasn't been done then yes the lever would be sitting in the down possition. If the mod has been done then you either didn't put it on or the mod has been done wrong

It would have jumped to the down position mate, mine did it, but I saw it straight away on a slight hill so was able to jump in, only to realise the foot brake doesnt really work too well with the engine off LOL. Hope the damage isnt too bad mate.

as you say thank god no one was hurt! this is a common problem on the vecs, the handbrake releases, get in touch with the dealers as a lot of these are recalled about the handbrake, its a five minute job by replacing a spring. it was even on watchdog a few years ago!
