spanner light whilst driving

hi,
the other day i was going down the motorway, i did nothing out of the ordinary and the car/spanner light came on for about 3mins and then switched off. the car performance didnt change or anything. it has happened once before about 4 months ago and somethimes it happens if i rev the car really far round. Iv had the car 9months and in total its probably happened 4times but as far as i am aware with no reprucussions on the performance. Its a 2004 1.9 cdti (150) with 80,000.
any ideas would be much appreciated

Really need to get the codes read, they should still be in the systems even if they have gone out. Maybe buy a cheap code reader, will work out cheaper than the dealer telling you what they are.
