Default Have I got a duff motor??

So here's the deal. Bought my 54 plate, 2.2 direct life in June for £3.5k, a bargain I thought especially as it only had done 29k miles. Well you may have read in another of my post that I've been having problems with it conking out and the spanner light coming on. Well it went in to the menders for the third time since I've had it and two weeks and £516 later I got it back tonight and its had a new fuel pump and fuel regulator (and a leaky seal on the drive shaft fixed). Anyway to cut a long story short the mechanic has been banging on at me about Vectras are notorious for electrical problems blah blah blah, but not only that he even said that my particular model and year are especially prone to these problems. He said the next thing that is likely to go are the bearings. When I asked him where he heard this he just said he'd been doing "a bit of research".

Is there any substance to these allegations or should I just ignore him and continue to enjoy my Vectra (complete with brand new and very expensive fuel pump)??

(incidentally my mechanic isn't just some cowboy mechanic, he's very good and a friend of my parents who also use him. So, Simon, if you're reading this don't take it personally mate, just want to find out for myself)

Every car has its problems, it doesn't mean that every car has every problem, bearings may go next but that might not be for another 50-60 thousand miles lol.

Go and enjoy the car mate

i honestly thought getting a 'new' fuel pump was very expensive on Vectras... or it could just be for my 2.0Dti which is in the region of £2k if done at the dealer.

That's my point, from what he's heard or read these supposedly are the things that often go wrong with my model/year.

The fuel pump and regulator are the main bugbear on the 1.8's other than that any other part which may fail will be exactly the same as the other engined models (other than the DMF's)
Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services
