Default temp gauge issue on 1.9 cdti

    Morning everyone

I drive 18 miles to work and back every day and I have noticed recantly my temp gauge hardly ever moves of the bottom. Is this normal in this weather for a 150 cdti. My old 2.2 dti ran much warmer?

I have done an airbox mod and fitted a k and n and a tuning box if this makes a difference and the car has been serviced last month

Mines the same mate. I drive about 12-15 miles each way to work and the temp gauge will almost reach 80.

If it's really low you might need a new temperature sensor mate.

There was an issue with pre-facelift 1.9 CDTi's where the thermostat did'nt operate properly. A new unit should solve this.

Pretty normal for a 1.9cdti I think. Mine takes about 10-12 miles of fairly nippy driving to reach 'working' temperature. Longer in the winter. Makes for a fairly slow heater and screen demist these chilly mornings!

    Vehicle : Vectra SRi

That points to needing a new Thermostat then, as my needle hardly moves, but the heater heats up really quickly pointing to a dodgy temp sensor.

It's not normal for a engine to take 10-15 minutes to reach 80 !
    Mine had this too.
I went to the Vx-dealer and ordered a new thermostat ( wich includes a new sensor as well ! ) costs around 55Pounds and 1,5 hours of work !

Now it runs to 85 till 90 within 5 minutes from a cold start !
The needles never drops under the 85 ! ( when engine runs ofcourse ! )

The old one is a bit different then the new one ( and a other brand )

    The old one:

    the new one:

    incl. sensor !
