    confused OIL

Can anyone give me a definate on which oil to use,

I want to do in between oil changes on my 58 plate vectra-c sri vvt 1.8ltr petrol model,

Been reading the dealers use 10w40 but seems to be its 5w30 fully or semi synthetic?

If so what brands do you use?

Plan to keep it untill its 3 years old and it will be going for major service once a year at the dealers just for the stamp but want to get it right.

    cheers all.

If you want to keep your warranty intact, then use any oil marked "GM-LL"
Personally, it's just as cheap to use the oil direct from VX, which is typically £25 per 5 litres

Equally, at service intervals you should check what oil they use, if 10w40 then show them the specification from the service book; clearly states 5w30 GM-LL

Once your warranty has expired then you can use any synthetic oil

When I got my 1.8 a year ago I used VX LL fully synthetic, my car never needed a top up in 12,000 miles, a very good oil, but I have just serviced it AND dosh was a bit tight so I have used Comma SYNER-G 5w-40 fully Synthetic and the car seems a bit quiter, I have used Comma oil over many hundreds of thousands miles and never had a problem with it, in my last vec I once put simi synth in it and MPG droped by 2.4 mpg, so its fully synth for me.
