    Default Update on tapping noise

I recently mentioned issues with a tapping/ticking noise on my CDTI (150) on tick over. Sounds like there is a bolt or screw rattling around in the engine. However, when the car is driven and warms up noise is gone?

Could this be a gasket of some sort? (exhaust manifold?)

    Cheers

My 150 had rattling noises from the engine for ages, found a couple of bolts had worked loose and were trapped next to the block. Can't remember where they were bar at the front but I know they were sods to recover plenty of knuckle rapping and cursing.

Something to do with the head/valves I would have thought, when and engine gets warm the dimensional tolerances change and noises like that tend to disappear.

So probably got something to do with my inlet manifold being knackered and swirl valves not working properly then? (recently found out at the same time that swirl valves are beggared)

    Cheers

Common problem on the Vec-B giving a similar sound was a cracked exhaust manifold, broken studs or blow-by on the gaskets.

Very nosiy when cold but as the exhaust manifold heats up, the crack/gap disappears as the metal expands and "seals" itself.

I know it's a Vec-B problem but might be worth checking on your Vec-C.
