    Default Spare Wheel

Hi, I have just bought a 2.0 DTi Vectra C and am a bit puzzled by something, the spare wheel in the boot is a 15" wheel and the road wheels are 16" - is this right or is someone trying to pull a fast one?

    Regards

    Alan

I had a Vectra B CDX with 16" alloys. The spare was a steel 15" so I suspect this is normal - the circumference of both wheels was almost the same as the 15" had a higher profile tyre. Could be worse though, you could have a GSi with 17" wheels and one of the comedy space-saver tyres!

As above mate, the wheels + tyres = the same circumference. Sit it nect to your alloy wheel & you will see for yourself

Maybe the Vectras Holden import are specced differently, but my old Vectra B came with five 15" allows, and my Vectra C has five 17" alloys

Nope. I have a full size 7J x 17 alloy wheel and tyre under my boot, same as the other four wheels

Cars without proper spare wheels don't go down well here; people don't like being stuck hundreds of kilometres from a tyre shop with a wheel that can only travel 80km. (or whatever that translates to in miles...)

    Gotta agree with you steve..

It wasn't brought home to me about being stuck miles from anywhere with a po#y biscuit wheel, till Duncan got a puncture late on a sunday afternoon.. He was facing the space saver option for a dash home..

I thought about Mrs Gsi and what she'd do miles from home..she can do far more than change a wheel but the space'es are only ranged at 50 miles..

So, a BIG thankyou to CARLBEAR, who yesterday brought up some steels to got into our bootwells.. never get caught out now..

Just one word of advice thought folks..GG had one of carls wheels and we've found out that Signums and estate's can't carry a full size wheel in their spare wheel wells, the pressing is totally different..

    Default Thanks - I think!!

Cheers guys - I am now more sure that I have the right wheel, I think it could be one of these spacesaver wheels you hold in such high regard - whether it is any good it is is a different matter, Thanks Alan

That's bad, consisering the size of the boot and the space underneath you woul dhave thought that you could get a full sized wheel in there
