    Default Dipped Beam Headlamp Type

One of my dipped beam bulbs blew on the way to work this morning, Philips Xtreme, fitted about 12 months ago. In my experience, over a few years of using them, any of the high rated halogen bulbs seem to last around 12 months so are essentially an annual replacement item.

In my case, I'll go for the Osram's this time, cheaper from PowerBulbs ATM & the dubious legal situation puts me off the ultimate - fitting HID's. As many on here have done the HID conversion, I just wondered how many compared to those using uprated halogen bulbs or even just the standard OEM halogen fitted bulb.

Its like asking who would you rather, Danni Minogue or Dot Cotton..??

Get some HiDs fitted, there is no dubious legal situation at the moment, only new cars need levelers and washers, it says nothing about retro fitting them - MOT wise you'll be fine, they police won't bother you either so there's nothing to stop you.

The light output is much better, some say the beam length is no different, but with the right HiDs it is, it really is like night and day, no halogen bulb will ever come close. Also in all the time I have had HiDs I have never had to replace a bulb either.

It can cost upto about £40 these days for some "decent" halogens, and that not far off HiD territory

Fitted my HID kit at the weekend, I'm more than impressed! The light produced is so much brighter at night, was kinda shocked, and of course they look ace! And at the cost
of £70 and 30 mins fitting em, you can't really argue! Get onto hids-direct!

My nightbreakers lasted approx 8 months before both dipped beams failed. I would forget about the Osram's if I were you and fit a HID kit.
