    Default What brake discs

Can anybody advise me as to what brake discs to get.
Need new discs for my 03 Vectra 2.2dti Sri.
It has the standard 285mm front discs with 18" penta alloys. I believe it's expensive to go for the big brakes so I think I'll just stick to the 285mm but what I want to know is should I go for grooved and drilled discs or stick to the standard ones. Are the G & D ones noisey (hum) and what are they like when cold.
Any advice here would be appreciated. Thanks.

Fit 302mm ones from the 2.0t mate, fitted them to mine with standard discs and pads and they are great!

302 calipers are pretty cheap too

So did you just replace the fronts and I would need new discs, the calipers and the carriers. What sort of money are you talking about for the calipers and carriers from a breaker?

50-75 quid, 100 at the very most. I bought mine from a very generous member on here who was doing a VXR upgrade.

Perfectly ok to just change the fronts though as the front wheels do most of the braking anyway.

You'll need the 302 discs as you said but if your pads are like new or whatever they can be re-used as the pads are the same. I re-used mine as I had greenstuff pads on before the upgrade

So what you say I can buy 2.0t discs next time I change discs on mine DTi? No other components needed to change (of course pads...), like calipers, etc?

    Dont be sorry;Im not
OK, nice to know You say its affordable. The 314 upgrade is pretty expensive, so this is not an option for me, but this 302 one..maybe Is it worth it, in your opinion? I mean, do you feel any difference in everyday driving?
To be honest Ive not missed brake power on mine (Ill guess I have the 285 since Ive a DTi with auto), but then I am using the gear as a brake in downhills, and if I need real brake power, so far mine has done a good job, no problem to lock the wheels in most conditions. Ill belive the 302 looks better on the car though?

They do give a better bite than the 285's and yes they fill out the wheel and look better
