Default CDTI 150 Issues-thinking about contacting Watchdog

    Hey folks,

With regards to the ongoing issues im having with the CDTI 150 and the wobble on idle and the distinct lack of power sub 2k rpm (EGR Valve, Injectors, 3rd Injector Wiring, Swirl Valve, etc), im thinking about writing into Watchdog to see what their take would be on it?

Im basicially trying to weigh up interest to see how many people would be interested in joining this campaign, I mean what have we got to lose?

This has come from me watching Watchdog over the last couple of weeks and people having problems with Renault dodgy clocks and BMW 19" wheels that crack, so heres me thinking-"lets try our luck" as we cant all be bad drivers!

So please vote and lets see how much interest we get!

Personally I think you may be on a hiding to nothing. If I could'nt get VX to refund or compensate me for dozens of problems including a failed DMF and finally a faulty gearbox on a brand new Insignia I cannot see this having much effect.

TBH I had no problems whatsoever with my 56plate Vec-c 150 which is still going strong at 83k miles today, its only had its normal dealer services done. Certainly a more reliable car than the Insignia. I know there are german forum members who are bringing a class action for DMF and clutch issues on the Insignia and are probably justified.

The vectra's however, have no more issues than most other modern cars and IMO are more reliable than most.

It doesn't affect me, however, Vx listened of the handbrake saga, forcing what was called a customer satisfaction recall, rather than a full blown VOSA one!

    That was driven by watchdog.

There was also complaints on watchdog over the 2.2 Direct.

Worth a go if enough people can get behind it.

One thing though is that Admin on here may want to know before a splinter group is formed to approach watchdog, as Vec-C is now an official club etc etc!

    confused

Can't see you getting very far with a complaint of 'lack of power below 2k rpm seeing as that's just a fact of the engine and turbo - none really below 1500rpm in fact.

The swirl flaps are a different story though (but again many manufacturers have this problem).

    I agree with Cameron.

Even though I have had to replace EGR/DMF/Inlet Manifold and clutch, I still believe that these cars repay you with how they are treated, and mine was a company pool car from new (before I got it) so its to be expected.

Not sure how many members have had CDTi 150's from brand spanking new (with 0 miles) and have had loads of problems - (I'll stick my neck out and say) I wouldn't have thought it would be many at all.

    Thumbs up

It's amazing how people are willing to accept the fact that numerous cdti cars are failing with the same Issues and seem to think it's acceptable.

The reason I bought a 3.2 gsi, rather than a 150 cdti is purely because the 3.2 is more reliable and has less components to go wrong.

Having read various threads on this and other forums, I would say you would have a good case against Vauxhall, and watchdog I suppose is a good way of getting media attention.

    Go for it.

    Default I would'nt do it

I certainly would'nt advertise the fact that Vectras have inherent problems, all that will do will put off buyers when you come to sell the car!!, afterall would you buy a Renault after watching watchdog(I would'nt have even before seeing watchdog!!)

    IMHO

    Cheers Ian

Yes, I would (if I liked Renaults)! The problem highlighted was electronic components in the dash so can be a quick fix with second hand parts IMHO.

I accept what your saying about re-sell, but who here is looking to fix their car JUST so they can egt shot of it....Not me!!
