    Default Hid installation - pre-facelift

Got round to fitting my hids form HIDS-direct today on my pre-facelfit 2.2 ls. Was very straightforward and didnt involve messing with wires like the how 2's as I think the units have evolved into these plug & play sets since then.

A lot of people installing HIDS have said they have done it with the headlights insitu - i think this is entirely possible but given the minimum effort involved in removing the hedlights I took them out and found that there was more than enough room to install the ballast and warning cancellor capacitor in the void below - within the front wing and then just fixed with double sided pads and zip ties as in the pic

One of my headlights is new - pranged by someone else - and the mountings for the lamp itself is now a spring clip instead of a twist clip - much easier - but as the HID lamps are prewired it looked a potential problem - luckilly all the wiring and connectors could be threaded through the clip before going through the large rubber dust cap.

It really was an easy job the only problem I had was working out which wires (which were alreday spaded) connected into the original block from the original lamp - quick glance at one of the old how 2's told me the black went to brown and red to yellow. All in all maybe an hour including the removal and replacement of headligthts and bumper!

    hi m8
if you do a lot of night driving then yes worth every penny.

i thought about this when buying my HIDs and i do a lot of fetching of the kids from work and from their mates most nights.

The light they give on the road are 100% better.
