    Default Advice/Info Needed - Losing Water/Coolant

As title suggests i've got a problem. Over the past week i've had the radiator light on the l/h dash screen, checked water, was down bout an inch. Topped up with water and antifreeze then next day light on and lost same amount. Its happened a few times now, cant see anything obviase or puddles under the car so have no clue where its leaking from.
I have the 1.8 sxi. Any help or info on known problems or what to check and look out for would be appreciated.
    Cheers Bil

possibly a hose or a leak on the top of the radiator core - only leaking
when hot and escaping as vapor -

best thing to do will be to wait until later when its a bit colder and run the car upto running temp open the bonnet and look for signs of steam escaping - will hopefully be fairly obvious as the exterior temp gets lower than the engine temp

a garage can 'dip' your header tank and chemically test for HG problem. they don't charge a lot for this. another thing they can do is put dye in the tank that helps to trace if there is a leak somewhere.

Thanks for the replys. I had a look today, during a short break in the rain, and could see some steam coming from the radiator (drivers side) but couldnt see if it was coming from the actual radiator or the vertical bit on the side.
A friend said to use Radweld but i've heard its bad for the engine? Dose anyone know what sort of price a new rad is?
