Default 1.9 CDTI (150) fuel filter change

A question for anyone who's changed the filter themselves - does a lot of diesel escape when the two fuel pipes are removed from the filter box and do you have to temporarily seal them with something? The guide I have says the pipes should be sealed with a vx tool KM-6015 but I have no idea what one of these is, how much it costs, where to get one from, or whether it's even necessary at all.

The Haynes manual says just to cover the ends or plug them with something to stop dirt getting in.

    Any advice gratefully appreciated.

not a lot escapes at all, just a few drips, you need to more worried about the amount in the filter itself escaping... to cover the ends if your gonna be more than a few minutres something like a plastic bag and rubber band just to seal off the ends will be fine

when mine was changed, joint effort between me and my dad a diesel fitter, there was only slight drips of diesel that escaped. and we left it off for a good while aswell while i cleaned the inside of the casing etc etc. wouldnt recommend just taking it off and leaving it there for a few hours but if your taking it out to swap bit of a clean it should be fine.
