Default Dreaded Clutch cdti 150 (56 plate)

I have been having an ongoing problem with my car surrounding the clutch.

The problem is when i change gear (normally between 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th) there is a weird noise - best described as a vibration.

It has been to vauxhall about three times and they can hear the noise, but after days of end with the car are failing to find a problem (last time i was told to take the car away as they didn't have a clue).

Next problem is my warranty runs out on 27th December !!

How can i get them to realise that it could be the ongoing problem with clutch and DMF? I keep getting told that there isn't a problem with the clutch and DMF and Evans Halshaw have only ever replaced one with this engine.

Now in the cold it seems to chatter when changing gear and the change between 1st and 2nd is occasionally gritty (?)

    Please help me !!

I love my Vectra but am unwilling to have to pay 1000's of pounds to replace after the warranty ends.

Any help or idea's would be great people, i'm sure there have been plenty disagreements with Vauxhall in the past over this issue.

Anyway its Friday !! No school for 2 whole days !!

1st of all is phone trading standards and let them know and ask for advice as the garage are claiming they can not hear the problem and the warranty is running out, also you now have a third party who can back up you complaining. Also state you fear the garage may be trying to avert honoring the warranty.

Ask Trading Standards can send someone out to have a listen? Maybe as an impartial witness to the garage. Also make sure you are present to witness the noise as well.

I would seriously push for this, as this may be the throwout bearing on its way out and the total cost can stretch past £1,200.

Good luck m8 but dont buy what a garage tells you they dont want to be paying a penny least of all niether do vx.

yep - i would take it to an independant garage or even pay for an RAC or AA inspection on the car maybe worth paying for an independant assesment say £100 rather than forking out £ssss later on

or take it to an out of area vx dealer for a "listen"

It's really weird because Vauxhall can here the noise but don't know what it is?

I took the mechanic out and he said i think its a wheel bearing - mmm i don't think so.

I'm going to book it in next Friday while i'm off again, let them have one final look/listen and if nothing it will definately be a phone call to trading standards.

Ringing the AA could be an option too.

Another thing that i have noticed (may be just my imagination) but i feel that the biting point on the clutch is alot higher than ever (nearly at the top).

Is anyone else's like this? I have had the car since it was 3 mths old so i am pretty sure the clutch has slipped.

Why can't vauxhall just change the damn thing - would be alot quicker and cheaper for them in the long run.

Could i contact Vauxhall direct rather than going through a dealer? Would be great to get it on Watchdog

The reason vx wont do it the easy way is because they are counting on you leaving it but dont let them off with it - they have admitted there is a noise too.

Thanks for all your help so far.

I feel like telling them to keep it until they find the fault.

Dont forget that you have already reported the problem to the Vx dealer while the car is in warranty, so even if *it* subsequently fails outside warranty, the problem occured within the warranty period so should be fixed as part of the w'ty

Could you not take it to anoth vx dealer for a second opinion?

I tried to take it to another vx dealer but they wanted £500 up front to take the clutch out to look at it.

They may of said that to scare me away but it worked.
