Default totating rear brake pistons but not going in - HELP!

    Hi All

Trying to replace my rear pads but when I am turning the rear pistons to retract them, nothing is happening, they just turn. When I turn them anti-clockwise they come out but will not go back in when I am turning them clockwise.

Can you help? I have been placing no pressure and light pressure on the piston but no difference.
    cheers
    David

I have a set of thin nose pliers. The piston is turning but just not going in. Do I need to use a lot of pressure? Dont want to risk damaging them

i had to use quite a bit of pressure mate to be honest and it makes life a bit easyer if you had the special tool for it you need to rotate clockwise

    cheers Paul
Went back out and put a bit more pressure in the piston and it has gone back in. Didnt fancy paying over £35 for the tool!! Was planning to fit new discs but dont have the special tool to get the caliper mounting bracket off to allow me to take the disc off so its just getting new pads
    cheers

I put preasure on with a g-clamp like you do for the fronts and twist the piston with molegrips. They have to be pressed in as you rotate. You can destroy them easily if you just rotate or push them......

Are you sure they're the wrong ones? Vx changed the design of the clips on them - you may have the old ones on your car and been sold the newer, better ones.

Here's the link showing old/new design. http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ight=rear+pads I had a great deal of trouble getting the piston back in but eventually suceeded. After driving for a while the wheel got hot and found the caliper had seized.
