handbrake recall

i drive a 56 plate 1.9 cdti 120 bhp design and come out if work today to find it embedded in someones car has any one else suffered handbrake failure. called vauxhall who says it should of be done as a recall

I have, but luckily it was on a very slight hill and I actually managed to jump into the car. After that I ALWAYS leave any car that I drive in gear... Thats VX's get out of jail free card, it says to leave the car in gear when parked.

Too late now, but please make a note for future reference - leave the car in gear as well as using the handbrake.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who park up and leave their car in neutral and then solely rely on a thin bowden cable to stop their tin box worth £££££ from rolling away.
