Thread: Signum 3.0 cdti wont start

    Default Signum 3.0 cdti wont start

    Long story short, the car was running perfect , went for a meal came out to go home and the car will not start.
    Loads of life in the battery, my brother who used to be a mec put some easy start in the air intake and it started to run but then stopped.
    Looked in the fuel filter , its empty.
    The car has loads of fuel in it.
    Any ideas guys ?? fuel pump ?
    Thanks for any help.

    Tank pump, or fuse for tank pump. If you get in a quiet area, and turn on the ignition, you should hear the pump pressurising the system. This is when it would fill up the filter. If you're really brave, you can take off one of the pipes going on to it to see if anything reaching the filter at all...

    Other possibilities if the pump IS running include a blockage in the tank, or depending on which way the fuel goes into the filter the filter itself may be blocked...

    There should be fuel in the fuel filter, so that suggests the issue lies between the input fuel lines and fuel tank
    However the fuel pump may not be drawing fuel either

    Reprime the fuel system and see what happens

    **UPDATE**

    Went to get it this morning with a tow truck.
    Went to start the car and it started 1st time !!!
    Only ran for about 10 - 15 secs tho, then stopped again.

    Called in the garage today.
    They said machine said there was no fuel pressure, after the battery charger went on it it started no problem !!!
    Machine now says no problems ????
    Any ideas ?

    tank pump all cdti engines do, not as powerfull as a petrol but they do have them. i wouldn't be suprised if the relay was sticking (cheapest to start with) or pump its self was failing. peugeots used to have the same problem too 100k miles the car would die cause of the tank pump.

    You know where the relay is ?
    I didnt get a handbook when i got the car.
    How much for the pump ???

    don't know sorry possibly the rear fuse pannel. yours is the first i have heard
