    Hi Scott
    Welcome to shiny land.
Depends how obsessed you want to be, for an average person.
Stage 1: Paint cleaning. About twice a year.
Stage 2: Polish. About 4 times a year
Stage 3: Wax. About 4 times a year.

    For the obsessed (me !)
Stage 1: Paint cleaning. About once a month.
Stage 2: Polish. Once a week.
Stage 3: Wax. Once a week.

Just spent all day choosing my next shampoo, currently using PB Super Slick & Suds............................still haven't decided.

once a week? sod that! im just about to start stage two and im already knackered! i was expecting it to be really shining but i geuss it might get better once i`ve done stage 3 the wax. from what i can gather silver is really hard to look as good as the darker colours is this correct? i almost bought autoglym super resin polish and the high gloss protection i dont know if they are any good but i spotted meguairs hiding away in the corner!

The Meg's stuff is pretty good kit. Yes it os harder to get lighter cars to shine as well as darker cars, but after messing around with different waxes and stuff you'll find what works best for you.

You will notice the shine better once the wax is on.

If you want a deeper, wet look shine, try using a glaze or sealant such as Meguires #21 in between polish and wax.

    That's looking good mate

I've got the Meguiars stuff and also the Autoglym super resin polish and high gloss protection. I've used them both in the last few days and tbh the finish on a silver car is virtually the same

invest in some speedwax, scott. wash the car, dry it off to the point of damp, doesnt need to be totally dry, spary the wax onto a microfibre and apply like normal wax. it tops up the wax youve just put on and adds say 10mins to the wash time. will look corking too and protect stages 1 & 2 for longer. cost less than a tenner and last a fair while

    Scott,
Congratulations, looking good. Its worth the effort, don't you think.
Don't forget your wheel arches, clean, dressed arches round the car off, imho.
