    Default Insurance question

Hey guys, mate of mine has a 08 focus st, remapped staged 2 turbo or whatever, he has 9 points, lives in a high risk post code, uses the car for work

I have a 52 3.2 gsi, totally standard engine, 0 points, low risk post code, and use it only for social doing 3k miles a year

we both have same 4 year ncb, so why is it his insurance is same
as mine?? I ring every possible insurance company yet always my insurance is same if not a few quid more

his mods are declared aswell by the way

Perhaps they see "social" as "fun".

He must be insured through a specialist of some sort..... Or just plain telling porkies.
Have you considering calling your insurance company and getting a quote on the same car he's got?

An ex work colleague of mine who's 40 odd (with full NCB and no accidents on record), has a race/rally prepped Peugeot 309 GTI.
He can't get anyone to insure it, all the insurance companies refuse point blank and all he told them was it's been lowered and fitted with a sports exhaust system! he didn't mention the fact it's got a race prepped engine and kicks out over 250bhp.

It may well be for the same reason my insurance dropped loads when i declared my mods. My renewal came in at £670 no mods declared. With out changing company this dropped to under £300 and £150 excess by declaring all mods and saying i was a member of vec-c. This apparently makes me a responsible driver so they can offer big discounts. The excess is an important one also. Do you mind me asking who you are with and what you pay? If you havent already then try chris Knot and Adrian Flux. The other thing is the model of car. Insurance groups appear to be worthless information. I recently got a quote for a maserati quatroporte (spelling) worth alot more than my car group 20 etc etc. At the time they want a couple of hundread quid more a year then my Vec, as it was deemed that someone in a maserati would driver mor sensibly then an SRI vec. I also remember trying to insure a mini years ago and it was cheaper to insure it fully comp then third party. Insurance makes no sense and never will.

We are both 23, I think his excess is 100 more than mine but still his cars insured for 16k and mine for 3700, always thought the car value was a major factor, I pay 64 ppm he pays 65. I've got pass plus aswell, not a major thing but still a thing for bringing price down, I got a quote on his car at my address and it was nearing the 2.5k mark, really don't understand this at all
