    Default Long Weekend at Blackpool

Just come back from a long Weekend at Blackpool where I had a bad Flu breakout and on Saturday night my alternator packs up .
All of Sunday I had to use Taxi and Buses and constantly sneezing, coughing and generaly feeling really bad.
Monday I managed to get the car to local VX dealers with help from the RAC where they confirm the alternator has packed up and they will have to order one in on a special extra quick overnight delivery. Dealers didnt have a courtesy car available so I hire a car for 24 hours which helps loads as we can try to enjoy whats left of our break.
Today / Tuesday I get a call this morning to tell me that the car is all done and ready to pickup so I drop the hire car off and collect mine where I find a permanent beeping noise coming from the boot so the car goes back into the workshop where they confirm that the module for my Towbar electrics has thrown a fit so they disconect it so that I can come home and still needs to be fixed.
The whole weekend was a nightmare and I am still suffering from the Flu and £476.10 lighter because of the alternator and £30 for the Hire Car.
I need a weekend away to relax after this, or maybe I will just pass on that next time.

On the plus side mate, at least you didn't fail to stop due to dodgy brakes...

I did wonder at times though Martin as the car behaved so strange. First it was over revving then the radio started to go on and off then the heater stopped then the ABS light came on and off then Airbag light on/off then the Power steering light came on and actualy stopped working and then the eml came on and off. I had my own light display in my car, who needed Blackpool but not once did the battery light come on .

What is also annoying is that the Manufactuers Warranty ended the end of September and its only done 37700 miles which is nothing. I was hoping that my car might of been in the batch of cars with faulty alternators but as normal I just have to pay out all the time.
Does anyone know if it would be worth getting in touch with VX to see if they would be any goodwill handed back as I was asked for proof of service history at the garage but I didnt take the service book with me but I did tell them to talk to Grassmere which they did, but all they got was they did the last service and 1st MOT which was of no help.

You poor man.. you have my sincere sympathies, I would rather do 6 months in prison than spend a weekend in Blackpool. Were you forced to go there by someone? Did you report it to the police. ? Surely you did'nt go there voluntarily did you. ?

Having lived near Blackpool for almost 20 years until moving down to Herefordshire to live I can say with conviction that the place has to be the worst place in the country. Its already been voted the worst crime spot in the UK yet again!

    It truly is the pits.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the car too, its obviously not been your week.

It must be people that live near Blackpool that have that opinion, as I totally agree with that

The stay at Blackpool was ok as we stayed at the Deverre Herons Reach which is nextdoor to the zoo. What I do hate about Blackpool is the roads in the town itself, the oneway system is stupid and the signs are totaly poop
