Default 2.2 petrol LS engine cuting out and emmissions fault light on!

As teh thread says - took a trip to cardiff today (Bob the Builder concert! - im so Rock!!) and the engine just cut out wihtout warning, stuttering etc and teh eml light came on - couldnt start teh car back up again for about 30 - 60 seconds then started no problem - emmisions light still on but teh car repsonds fine - it did it a futher three times between the journey there and back. each time same thing - just stops then doesnt resatart for about up to 2 minutes then starts as if nothing happened!! no loss of performance etc otherwise.

any suggestions - going in for a service soon but wnated a bit of a heads up if this is going to be a big bill job!!!

Right it wont be the swirl flaps then as the Z22SE doesn't have any. It also rules out the HP fuel pump also because it doesnt have one, just a pump in the tank which very rarely fails. If its the EGR that can be fixed for £13 mate. £3 for the blanking plate and £10 for EGR cheater. First off get the EGR off and give it a right good clean so the valve can move. The 2.2 only monitors the movement of the valve not the gas flow.

This is my EGR with a blanking plate fitted, its on the battery side of the lump.

Take it off and give everything a right good clean.

It can put it into limp as if its stick the ECU throws a fit. There's no real big issues with the Z22SE except the chain and it isn't that as it would never start again. It might be the EGR mate, but its something that you can look at yourself for free.
