Can anyone identify my description of a sound?

Basically the engine has been making a sound 1st thing in the morning that sounds like the tsk tsk tsk tsk you hear when standing next to someone with earphones in listening to dance music!

That's the best way i can describe it.

It stops after 5 mins of driving etc, but it started off quiet about 2 months ago and is getting louder.

I've listened under the bonnet and it seems to be comming from either the back of the cam belt area (alternator) or the front area?

It had a new alternator at around 40K.

What do you guys think it could be?

I'm trying to get it booked in for a looksie sometime soon.

It's on 79K now.

Off to the garage mate it will cost a fortune replacing all the suggestions you are likely to get you need a pro to listen you can always replace what they say yourself to save money.

Hopefully getting them to come to my house on Saturday morning to pick the car up (before i start it 1st thing) as by the time i get to the garage, the noise will have stopped. Or arrange to drop the car off, of a night time and get them to start it in the morning. But the numptys at VX will probably drive the car into the workshop, let it run for a while, then have a look and find no noises. So i really need to be with them when they start it. That's the annoying thing.

I just need some suggestions to throw at them.
