    Default injuries at work

anyone know anythin about injuries at work? because on friday afternoon i dislocated my thumb in 2 places at work with a tool that wasn`t maintained properly resulting in 3 weeks at least off work in a cast also have ligament/tendon and tissue damage to it,went in yesterday to take a sick note from the hospital, while i was there the guy in charge of health an safety called me into his office for a chat,he basically admitted the companys liability for the accident and asked me what i intended to do about making a claim.....haven`t been there long and really only bothered about gettin paid whilst off sick so i can pay the bills and stuff so i told him that as long as he could sort it that whilst the hospital said i`d gotta be off work i`d be getting my wages i wouldn`t bother putting any claims in because they take a long time to come thru and i`m just more worried about not goin under with xmas round the corner, and if they don`t,wondered what steps to take next?

That’s scare mongering & against the law. You should seek legal advice imo ……..

you also have to consider the long term implications

if you have tissue and ligament damage your thumb may never work properly again and as its your thumb that separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom - you could be limited in what you can do for a living if you do not make a full recovery

= easy to say now about worrying about getting a p45 for making a claim but you could also get a p45 if you cant return to work and complete your normal working duties.....

if they were to "make you redundant" based on a legal claim - they would be on a sticky wicket as well

you should seek legal advice - my 10 pence worth

    regards
