Default Insurance & No claims bonus ??

    Ok, can anyone help ?

Got my Vec, obviously. Bought a Honda Accord as a run around, park in dodgy areas so my vec doesnt get damaged sort of thing lol !!

Insured it with the same company as my vec (directline). I had a multi-car discount but I assumed id get a price with my 5yrs no claims discount. But no, not even the same company could provide the bonus on 2 cars at the same time. It worked out cheap anyway so I wasnt too bothered...

But, the question is - Can I have 5yrs bonus on 2 cars at the same time if I use different insurance companies ???

    Thanks !!

This is what I found a couple of years ago with Direct Line I'm afraid.

I had 4 years no claims on my old Seat Ibiza 1.4 CL back in 2001 and when I insured the Westfield the insurance company I used matched my no claims bonus so I had 2 cars both on 4 years no claims. Specialist car insurance though!
Westfield was £350 to insure, the Seat was £650.

When i was looking at getting a 9000 aero as a run around most insurance companies were refusing to acknowledge my no claims. Only Adrian Flux who i am with anyway would apply the discount to both cars.

Thanks all for your replies. Its strange isnt it ?? Reason I ask, lol was bidding for a Vec B GSi MSD and was a tad more expensive that the Honda to insure, then it would be 3 cars to insure and too expensive sadly, anyway I lost the auction, so perhaps a blessing in disguise.

For each car you have to earn a separate no claims discount.

If you have the two cars registered in your own name and a spouse as a named driver, sometimes the insurance company will offer to build up a no claims discount for your spouse should she buy a car in her own name!
