    hi Dawn,
sorry to hear your news - if its just the light you have broken - then ebay/breaker yard or worst case the dealers would be a lot cheaper than your excess and an increase on your premium next year!!

you can still drive just make sure you replace it as soon as possible and that your not showing white light to the rear - otherwise your local constabulary may show you some interest

you can still use it but you have to cover each bulb with the appropriate colour plastic or celophane. in effect you have to make your own lense in order for it to be legal

Depends if the correct colours are showing for rear, brake, indicator. If not then you could be picked up but if you say it just happened you'd likely get away with it (barring grumpy cops of course )

Simple answer (for parked overnight purposes) - cling film. Dry off the surfaces as best you can first. Apply cling flim from upper surfaces and work down. Where possible, open boot first to provide better anchorage. Try to get the film as smooth as possible at the edges to reduce chances of wind whipping it off.

But as everyone has pretty much said already - you should replace the unit asap as sod's law says you'll find some young plod straight out of the factory and the only traffic offence he can remember will be displaying an incorrectly coloured lamp to the rear.

if you have damaged the light and havent done any body or paintwork damage just put a new light unit in and forget the insurance claim

You can probably pick up a new pair off ebay for £50 and fit them yourself! Will be alot cheaper than your probable £500 excess
