Default cdti 150 slight misfire! help needed

hi ive owned my vectra now for a year and over the past few month the car has been a little lumpy on startup for about 1-2 mins. i cleaned the egr valve yesterday no rust but was sooted up. i removed this but today when driving, at around 2-3k the car hesitates like its misfiring, but if i give it full throttle its fine just when driving between 2-3k.
anyone have any ideas what to try/change. thanks in advance... craig

did you clean the hole where the egr bolts to manifold?, clean the boost sensor, is your swirl rod still connected, other than that have you had the 3rd injector wiring mod.

Mine does the same, I've been told its because the swirl valves are shot, with up and down movement as well as rotational, easy way to check is to see if there is some black, wet, oily residue around the swirls. Got my car about a year ago with 143k on, and when I checked, the bar had come off, so I repaired it using the tap washers, in the last thousand miles, its started to play up, so I've bought an Inlet manifold and swirl valve actuator, and when I have a couple of clear days, I'll strip it all down, and fit the new one, along with the cambelt and waterpump.
Good Luck with it, let me know if its not the swirls.
    Cheers
    Mark

I have this same problem and it can't be the swirl flaps as I had a new manifold earlier this year, together with a new throttle body [showing fault codes], turbo overhaul by TT [again more fault codes]. I cleaned the EGR when I first had the car, [albeit not the full solenoid stripdown] so I am hoping that an EGR swap might do the trick but the symptoms are identical to yours:

Gentle acceleration causes a stutter at 2250-2500 rpm but hard acceleration gives no such problem.

    Fingers crossed.
