Default VEC-B HELP, P0335 Crank Sensor-CAR WONT START

    Hello chaps,

My brothers car is playing up, its a 1.8 Vectra-B X18XE, it wont start, keeps turning and turning but wont start at all. It just doesnt fire. Plenty of Fuel.

Have run the Op-Com on it and it has come up with P0335, which points to the crank sensor.

So, will the Crank Sensor prevent the car starting?

    HELP PLEASE FOLKS.

    Thank you.

p.s, Am I correct in thinking the crank sensor is by the cambelt right at the bottom?

    Thanks again.

Yes it is. It is a bit awkward to get to. Best to cut the old lead, and route the new one the best you can.

OK, an UPDATE. I got the car running. lets go back to the top, the engine is actually a X/Z18XE so its the "Z" engine, so my balls up.

Basically, I went to turn it and it was turning but not firing. So I cleared all the codes and disconnected the Crank Sensor (simply unplugged it) and I turned it over and it burst into life.

The car allowed me to rev it but it was in Limp Mode so wouldnt rev over 4k rpm. When I released the throttle, it simply cut out.

Re-started again with the sensor connected and once again, didnt start.

With the Sensor connected, im getting the code: "P0650 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Malfunction".

When I disconnect the Sensor im getting the above code AND: P0335 Crankshaft Sensor Open Circuit (similar, basically saying circuit open).

So guy's, what could it possible be?

Someone says to me its the ECU playing game,s BUT im not convinced, I am a Vaux-Man after all.

So please, come out of the woodwork and help me out please.

    Thanks, G.

sorry didnt read you had a new one in .......if you have had a new one and it is still the same with the same code .....you need to check the wires from the sensor to the ecu and if there ok your next step is a ecu .....make shure the wires havent rubbed together they would give you good resistance but confuse the ecu ......the other code means the bulb in the dash is blown / missing ....
