    Default cd70 maps update

Hi, I'm considering updating my mapdisc, I currently have 06/07 uk, what is the most current version, and when are they usually updated, ie I don't want to update now for a new map to come in the next couple of months.

You can generally pick them up on ebay for £30 to £40. Slightly cheaper if you get one that's a year or two older.

By the way, the new discs use Traffic Master for the TMC info. It's not as good as when it got the info from Classic FM's radio signal and the like.

There are three types of disc...

To save confusion this is what they do...

Map Disk - obviously roads, POI's etc
Update disk - software / firmware update...including CD70 functions and TMC settings
Language Disk - language settings and full headunit reset when you have an update failure.

    So I would recommend
    a) the latest map...although dont expect maps to be up-to-date.
    b) 04/04/2007 update disk (latest with original tmc settings)and
    c) original language disk

The language disk resets the radio to default settings as does the 2007 update disk. It's a bit like doing a new install on your pc, cleans out the rubbish and starts again.

Where can I get the update disc from, and how much? Also is there anyway to tell which version is currently installed?

Somewhere on the forum, there is a thread on how to find the "hidden" screens...

    The sequence is roughly:-
    1) Turn on radio

    2) ensure you are on the MAIN screen

    3) Hold the SETTINGS button pushed in until you get a bong sound...approx 20 seconds.
A message will pop up saying test mode on

    4) press the AUDIO button, (dont hold in) to scroll through test screen pages...

On one of these you will see the initials SW and a number...mine says something like

SW04042007...which means 4th April 2007...this is the update software / firmware release date.

    5) when finished, just press AUDIO button until it scrolls back to the normal audio page.

    6) Press MAIN to go back to the main screen

    7) Turn off test mode by holding in the SETTINGS button until it bongs again..Testmode Off should be displayed.

I got my update and map discs from e-bay...they were approx £20 each.
