    Default Attention Roadwars fans

Hi all been a while since been on here, sold my v6 cdti early this year and went back to trusted old omega though that didnt last long as had an offer i couldnt resist....... The dark blue 05 3.2 vectra from the thames valley series. LW05AET.. It went through west oxford motor auctions in september as a damaged repairable, quite heavy front end with airbags deployed, it had no plates on it and had new registration of 0U05 ENR, so didnt take much notice of it, it sold in the end for a measly 650 quid. Anyway time passed and it arrived on ebay last month and done a deal as was for 850. Well a lot of weekends later shes back on the road and all is well. Turns out Thames valley police use ghost plates as it says on sevice history that it had new plates in 2005. Looking at getting simular plates for it, Closest i can get is LW05HET as dvla says LW05AET never existed, but we all know different. Will try and get some pics up this weekend for you all.

Not so sure you should be listing VRNs, but if its your car now then that is your choice

Once a VRN has been applied to a police car it can be deleted with no history, this is obviously helpful to the next owner
They don't want to be mistaken for a plain clothes police officer by a "nasty" person

They aren't the only constabulary to use this
However it is more common on vehicles used for tactical purposes, etc

Equally, I found three vehicles at Strathclyde Police all with the same registration number
Two were grey and one was blue
It was when I was looking into the details for the blue one I realised I had already checked the grey one, and I then later realised there were in fact two grey ones!
It wasn't until I compared chassis numbers I realised it was in fact three different vehicles
However there was only one set of plates, so there was only ever one vehicle carrying them
Due to a mistake a blue car ended up carrying them for two days, but that was corrected and they were applied to a grey car until the original car became available again

First insurance company wouldn't insure it as it's a 3.2 sri and they never exsited

You should be able to apply in writing to the DVLA for the cars original number, providing it is still unused.

LW05 AET did exist - I remember looking up that reg on the Halfords website many months ago, just to see what they would show it as, came back as a 3.2 SRi police spec.
