    Default Good deed

I did my good deed for the day this morning.
I was on the A38 by Bassetts Pole by the toll road island, where there was an Artic lorry on the inside of the island. The driver stopped me (his lorry had Irish plates) He asked me do I know how to get to Coleshill from here. (ever had to think like a lorry driver, as a car will go down a country lane a Lorry might not). I tried to discribe the best way to get back onto the A446. But I could see he was "well lost" so I said follow me, It is not too far out of my way. So I "escorted" him. I stopped on the A446 to say Coleshill is just straight on. Then he showed me the address he was after. It was on the Ham,s Hall "estate". Follow me again. I said. Off we went. When we got to Ham,s Hall I stopped. He was so pleased that I got him there. He said he would never have found it he had compleatly lost his bearing. He shook my hand, and said Thank you. I got back into my motor and carried on home.
It is nice to be of help sometimes.

Might have. But it was disguised as a Scania though.

    Well done.

But whatever happened to the time-honoured phrase "well - if I was going there I wouldn't start from here"?

Nice to hear about a good deed being done rather than the more usual arrogant dangerous behavour on our roads, so a big well done!

One of the things I miss from my younger days when I first started driving about 47 years ago was the courtesy by most drivers on the road at that time. If one broke down which was not infrequent those days as cars and motorcycles obviously were not as reliable as they are now. One would often find drivers would stop and ask if they could help, I used to do it myself. Good days...and a mere memory now, but its sad how times have changed to the situation we have today where many drivers seem to be totally uncaring and agressive to each other, and would be inclined to harm you rather than help you. Society generally seems to have changed in its behavour to each other, a change certainly not for the better.
