    Default Spark Plug Confusion

    Hi,

I visited the vauxhall dealers today for a set of new spark plugs.

When I removed the first spark plug, I noticed it had 4 electrodes.

The spark plugs that I purchased from Vauxhall were the single electrode type.

The question is...are the single electrode type ok to use, or have I been supplied the wrong spark plugs?

The 4 electrode spark plug number is FGR8KQE0
The single electrode spark plug number is FQR8LEU2

For your information my car is a 2004 1.8 Vectra Club Z18XE engine.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

They are good for your engine (checked TecDoc 2009 for you), it's ok even if they have only one electrode. It's obvious for the 4 electrode spark plug to have a different P/N. Both are good for your car.

The service booklet supplied with our 55Reg Facelift Club with the Z18XE (non VVT) engine advises that for cars with this engine, the Bosch FQR8LEU2 are good for 4years or 40Kmiles whereas the Bosch FGR8KQEO are good for 8 years or 80K miles.....
It's due for a service in next 4/6 weeks I will be using one or the other of NGK equivalents from the motor factors where I do part time deliveries since I retired....along with various FRAM filters...also happy with a successful bid I made on ebay for 5 litres of genuine GM 5W/30 (GM-LL-A-025) engine oil @ £21.00 delivered....Cheers
