Default Why is the display saying F?

The instructionbook (manual) says F = Fault. Okay, but what to do with it? Earlier the F did go back to normal, meaning it showed what distance I could drive before I had to buy Diesel. Now it seems to be stuck at F, and has been so for a couple of weeks. Is there any tips to reset or make the F(ault) go away? See photo.

Its done it twice to me mate, once when the ABS plug needed cleaning but it more commonly happens when the loom has come unplugged from the outside temperature sensor in your front grill. My moneys one the temp sensor being unplugged.

Default F = Fault, but multiple?

Thank you for your comments: Yes,
    - Wickedwillie, Fault is what the instuction-manual says, but that's it. And
    - Rushy, do you really mean that the F could refer to other faults than fuel? The display always tells me in this place (where the F is) how far I can drive before I have to refuel, based on the computer's input in how much fuel is left, and how I drive (economic or not) - so the display is of course dynamic: When I just filled the car up with fuel, the amount is over around 1100 km (left to refuel), and then it counts down as I am driving. And as you can see, the F refers to "km", and "Rekkevidde" is Norwegian for "Distance left" or something similar to that. Any thoughts?

The 'F' is indeed a generic fault code which can have numerous causes. It comes up if I update my BSR remap, which would suggest that it detects that the ECU is being accessed from an unexpected/unknown source. I also get the power steering fault light. But neither of the 2 'faults' are indicated after the remap is completed.

It could I suppose be a fault associated with the trip computer.

I to have an F displayed, where the outside temperature reading should be.
This has only occured since my wife hit a small wall with the offside front end.
My dilemma is do I get the car looked at, or shut of the wife.

Of course it might help if this fault indication remains, to get it bunged on Tech2 or Op-Com and see what codes (if any) pop up.
