Default Misfire on Cylinder 4 - signum 2.2

    Hi all,

The wife mentioned that the Signum (2.2 Direct 04) seemed a bit hesitant yesterday under acceleration. This lunchtime she rang to say that the spanner had come up on the dash and it had gone into limp mode. I got it home for her and called the AA - (BTW It seemed to be running on 4, but was obvioulsy restricted to 30mph) - anyway AA man plugged his laptop in and there was no fault codes showing, spanner light gone!! He was saying it was probably EGR? at this point.

I told him to wait five minutes while i took it up the road. i got the engine light on this time (no spanner) and now it was firing on 3. He plugged his laptop in and there were no fault codes as such but it said misfire of 4. He changed the plug but it went straight back to 3. He said it will be the coil pack thats goosed sayng, when its cold its fine, but when it gets warm it breaks down, that why it didnt show a fault when he first arrived.

He cleared the fault and said to try a second hand one. Just found one on eurocarparts for £99, Bosch. Does this sound about right and do you reckon this is the problem... Please dont be mentioning the dreaded words "Fuel Pump"

Thanks for the offer Daveyboy, i really need to get it up and running as soon as possible otherwise i would have had that off you.

Picking the coil pack and new plugs up at lunchime.... I'll fit them this afternoon, then... fingers crossed it will be sorted... Again!

So far i've had the Swirl Valve Actuator replaced (under warranty a few years ago), then the chain jumped a tooth about 3 months ago, luckily not causing any damage apart from in my wallet, and now this!.... i'm thinking its time to say bye bye.

Well, I've changed the coil pack, new set of plugs and the spanner light is still on!!

AA are now taking it to the garage i swear by (YVS Performance Specialists in Sherburn, Leeds http://yvsperformance.com/) to let him have a look at it.

Judging by other threads i've read, its probably looking like the fuel pump.... Does anyone know what pressure they run at, as Simon at the garage is going to test the pressure first job.

I'll do a search on this site and the net to see if i can find any details in the meantime....

Did you find out that the problem was sorted and you just needed the engine light to be switched off after you sorted the problem?
