Default Can't remove the rear wheel!!

    Afternoon all

Trying to change my brake pads and discs and hit a minor snag in that the rear offside wheel won't come off, its stuck fast. Any body else had this problem and have any suggestions, apart from brute force and ignorance.

    Regards

    Neil

Nah, give it a measured kick around the edges - it will loosen and come off.

Put the wheel bolts back in so they're done up but not fully tight, then lower the car back down. Move it a foot or two forward a back and this should be enough to break the bond. If not, loosen the bolts a bit more and try it again...

Failing that use a block of wood and a hammer to knock the rim from the back but have someone there to catch it or place a soft cover on the ground

    pretty much covered as above
most garages have asoft faced mallet or hammer for just such a case of sticky wheels
lightly bang around the inner rim with the nuts loose (if working on your own)or out if two people present and it will come free - remember to apply some copper grease to the rear of the alloy around where it will seat over the hub before refitting - will help prevent it sticking again

sit on your backside and give the outer edge of the wheel / tyre a good kick with the sole of your foot on either side alternatively untill it frees itself. Worked everytime i have done this. HTH

    Default

or as above a soft faced mallet

then when you put them back on, put some copper grease on the back of your wheels.
