    Default Need a New Home Phone-Recommendations

    Hey chaps,

    I need a new home phone.

    Am currently using the ancient BT Freestyle 2200 which is now knocking on deaths door, so before it gives in, I need to get a new one.

    What do you recommend?

    My requirements are:
    - Decent looking;
    - Redial list (pref 5+)
    - LCD Display with caller ID, already activated by BT;
    - Normal ringtone (and must be loud);
    - Sturdy & robust;
    - Good battery life.
    - I DONT need answering machine, although if the phone is the right price, I just wont use it.
    - Budget: approx £25.00 max;
    - Illuminated keypad would be useful but not essential.

    Thats it really. Whats your recommendations?

    I have been browsing Argos and have come up with these:

    I recently bought a very similar Panasonic and am very impressed. Mine was a double pack and has answerphone but otherwise the basic phone is good. You can add other handsets later if you wish.

    I think you might be disappointed by the ringtone selection though - 16 of them yes, but they are all jingly synthesised stuff - not a phone-sounding ring to be seen.

    This one (or two!)

    There is a single version - TG6421

    Quite a few reviews, for the twin set at least.
