Default Hi guys just joined few questions.

Alright folks just joined and have a few questions.
I have just bought a vectra sri xp 1.9cdti 150 2007 plate. It has done just over 70,000 miles is it advisable to get the cam belt done just now or will it do for a few thousand more miles.?

Plus there is a sort of hollow rumbling noise coming from the back dont know if it is the wheel bearings.?I have jacked the car up and checked the wheels there is no play or movement in them .Is there any other way of checking to see if it is the bearings.?Thanks in advance

hi m8 and welcome to the site, the cam belt book time say's 100,000 miles, but its advised to get it dome around 80, 000 just incase, but if i was you i would get it done now for your own peice of mind

the noise from the rear end is more than lickly to be your tyres as the vectras are known for this, but they are a solid 1 peice bearing and it will be hard to feel alot of play, but it might be dry and will only drown when it gets up to a certain speed, which you wont be able to do by hand. hope this helps

Spot on advice from Glynn there mate. You don't really know the history of the car so if it were me, first thing I would be doing is taking it into work and putting a belt on.

The noise on the rear, at that mileage, my money would be on a wheel bearing.

As above mate, you're going to have to do the cambelt at some point anyway, so might as well do it now just in case...

Thanks for the welcome guys .The rear brake pads and discs are nearly down too there limit so im going to get them done tommorow to see if this is causing any of the noise and i will ask the mechanic to check the rear bearings when he is doing this and if they are shot replace them.
Checking the work that was carried out before i got the car it has had four new tyres and two new rear shockers fitted 1 month before i bought it .Would changing the shockers move the camber of the wheels.?I have read on other posts that getting 4 wheel geometry and camber adjusted can take this problem away.Any one had this done before?
