    Default 2.0t Notchy Gearbox (F40)

    hello all

    I have another consern about my car.

    The gearbox seems to be very notchy when cold, after about 10mins it seems to ease off alittle.

    is this normal?
    The dealer is trying to tell me it is, but to be honest, i do find it hard to belive... epecially when he told me it needs running in!!

    Mine is very smooth, except 2nd is a bit difficult to change down to from 3rd or 4th when its cold.

    hiya mick, my 20t is the same, very clunky when changing gear.my old 1.8sxi gearbox was the same - after speaking to dealers they said it was due to the gearbox having to take more power (a 1.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) it does seem to be mainly from cold start
    ps are you going to the north east meet?

    My 1.9 CDTI is the same m8. Been in to VX twice and they say its fine.

    i know of about 2 people that have had new gearboxes, the 2.0 t is susposed to be a bit of a gearbox eater

    Is the Vectra C going to be a ****** with gearboxes , Mines had a new one allready as you all know . But then again I have covered 109,000 miles .

    First comment I made about my 2.2 direct was that the gearbox is notchy. It's worse when cold, but is noticable all the time.

    I think it might be a Vx thing... MLC, how bout the ones at work, what are they like?

    The 3.2s don't seem to have the same problem. Could be down to the fact thry're never cold, being run 24hrs/day.
