2.0t boost pressure remap

hi All had my car remapped not long ago and it did feel abit better,i watched him upload the file for a z20net which is correct but i have now fitted a boost gauge and just a few questions,in 1st gear it wont boost over 0.5 bar maybe a bit under,2nd gear peaks to over 1 bar but drops to about 0.7 - 0.8 bar and may be holds 0.9 in higher gears it always peaks to over 1 bar for a second but drops off apart from 1st does this sound right after a remap

Re. 1st and 2nd gear - yes, that sounds right - power is restricted in these gears intentionally. I don't know if that's to protect the drivetrain or if it's to avoid overwhelming the suspension/traction, but it's the way it's supposed to be. It does mean your 0-60 won't be as fast as you might have hoped, given that you've probably now got circa 220bhp, but you'll get the full-whack experience in mid-range acceleration.

i did a 0-60 in 6.8 but on slope in my favour so im guessing it will do it a little quicker than normal say about 7.7 on this private road wher i normally get 110mph i get 120mph and the other day on a private road it got 140mph pretty fast but i thought in other gears it should be holding 1 bar boost but it only peaks at 1.1 bar i think the only real way forward is bsr

A BSR remap will still restrict power in 1st and 2nd gears.

That's the same figures as stage 1 BSR mate so it's spot on for boost pressure. Limited in first and second to lower the torque on the drivetrain and 1-1.1BAR in all other gears.

It will peak higher and drop back to a steady figure in the higher gears as the air flow holds the charge temp down as there is more air over the intercooler..... iirc

i thought after a remap it should hold 1 bar in higher gears as its 0.7 bar standard it holds about .8 .9 bar,has any one else fitted a boost gauge,just before i fitted mine i seen duncan's dash i did it a cheating way though,vaccum pipe through top of steering colum and i ran 12v light wire and 12 v permant straight to my sat nav where the air vent used to be,so light on boost gauge is always on when ignition is on but cant tell during the day,it looks really neat though and makes it feel like a proper turbo car now

As said above, sounds about right. on my BSR Stage 1 I was getting around 1.0/1.1 peak in third gear and higher. The remap will limit the torque (therefore the boost) in first and second to reduce strain on the drivegear.

So full throttle in 3 i hold about 0.8 0.9 does that sound right after a remap which is about 11-12 psi but i do have a cone filter and i read on a audi forum after reverting back to standard air box boost was increased as the air is denser

The only way a cone filter works is if the car is in motion.The heat from the engine will raise the air intake temperature and cause the car to over fuel.So in a word yes the standard air box with the air box mod will work better.
