Default Car & Spanner on start up

When I turn on my ignition, the car & spanner icon comes up, but goes off shortly after, is this something I should be worried about? Read the manual and it said if it comes on, there's an electrical issue?

Does it come on for a few seconds on start up and then extinguish?

If so, nothing to worry about as per the owner's book.

Only panic if it comes on and stays on at start up or comes on whilst driving. Then say a few prayers and get your CQ book or credit card ready.

Yes, goes after about 3 seconds or so, any reason as to why it does this? Glad it stays off though, from what it sounds, if it stays on it's a bad sign.

My GSI has done this on and off for 18 months. Car runs well, can't fault it so I live with it. In my case, I do know what the fault code is - "incoming air temperature", so I just carry on and enjoy the car.

Or you can get the code read and then worry even more cos in some cases, you won't know what the fault means LOL.
