Bit of info needed

I previously had an Astra 2.0T before returning to the Vectra. The one thing I loved about the Astra was the gearstick. So, does anyone know if it is/would be possible to change the Vectra stalk for an Astra one? By stalk I mean the part from the white ball joint upwards. I had a look at the Vectra equivalent to the Astra one but it is nearly £300 before fitting. Any help much appreciated.

i have fitted astra vxr complete gear knob to my vectra only thing what you have to do is to replace leather gaiter with plastic bit at the bottom and is all dancing and singing. And I agree astra "knob" is far more better than vectra

Thanks for the info guys. Penfold thats it exactly. So did you just take the 4 torx screws out and replace from the white plastic ball joint up? and How did you get the leather to fit the different shape?

Yup, 4 screws and the ball joint mate. The gaitor had to be swapped form the vec to the Astra one, as mentioned. Once you take the astra one apart you'll see how it works, and I had to chop to the top off the Vec one so it could be connected into the astra one. Very difficult to explain on here, but you'll see when you get one...

Thanks again Penfold, I think i'm going to have a busy weekend hunting one down. The Astra one is so much better, the vectra one lets the car down IMO. Once again cheers, I'm a happy laddie again.

Just be prepared for your fuel economy to take a dive as you let the revs go higher and then enjoy the quick shift back with your hand wrapped firmly around the shaft.........
