Default Juddering cured, now power loss - obviously a 3.0CDTi

    Hello there.

My 3.0 is running like a dream now! Injectors not knocking, the engine is not juddering and not smoking.

However, I have power loss now. It seems there is a lack of boost around 2000-4000rpm. Once passed 3500rpm the engine is gutless.

Been thorugh a tunnel the other day. Put my foot down in 4th gear (windows down so I could hear the engine) and I could hear the turbo going on/off/on/off and then on again.
Overall the car performs well, only not as brilliantly as it should.

There is no visible smoke under any circumstances, be it 2500 or 4000 rpm.

Is this a case of sticking turbo vanes?

Sounds like the SCVs on the fuel pump
You get to about 2000rpm and then it feels like the brakes are being applied
As it gets worse the engine judders, and the revs lower
It can be worse uphill making overtaking impossible
If you take the engine to about 3500rpm then the power returns

Try my temporary solution of adding two bottle of diesel fuel pump cleaner to an empty tank

It's quite the opposite mate. I have a nice kick in the back once over 2000rpm. At no point I feel like the brakes are applied. It only seems that there is no difference if I boot the engine or use 3/4 of throttle... I dare say it pulls better if I use 75% of throttle...

Last time I put a bottle of injector cleaner to an empty tank it made the car behave like crap...not doing it again...EVER!

    Missed that symptom
That is EXACTLY what mine was doing
So that confirms that one of the two SCVs is blocked

If you read one of my earlier posts you will see I mentioned the turbo could be heard going on / off / on / off continuously

It's not injector cleaner you want, its diesel fuel pump cleaner
This is a much thicker liquid
The instructions are to add one bottle before filling an empty fuel tank
The liquid settles at the bottom the fuel tank and is drawn through

Mine has been doing that since I got it back in January. There were times that this seemed to have cured itself, but now it's back
The injector cleaner is way too agressive of a fluid, therfore I think it does more harm than good. I am using 2-stroke oil and the engine is much quieter on idle.

If I remember correctly, 1000ish miles after your cambelt change the car started to lose power or having similar symptoms.
You know what? MINE IS THE SAME!
