    Angry Shoddy workmanship

Just collected my car and the original problem of rear washer not working has been fixed by replacing pump and cleaning pipes, on inspection of the interior i have noticed black marks on the roof lining not much of a problem they just wiped off, so I went to fit the child seat that they had removed from the back of the car , the plastic cover of the seatbelt (the one with the arrow pointing up and down) popped off, 2 little clips on the bottom of it had been broken off ( good job this site has swear filter) but worst off the seat belt where it attaches to the side of the car doesn't look like it has put back in properly compared to the other side it sticks out about half an inch more, they had the lining down to check for blockages also it has a fair bit of play in it, luckily I noticed this before i had a chance to go out with my daughter in the car and even luckier my daughter went home with my wife after she dropped me off at the garage, could this have been dangerous if i was in an accident with my daugher in the child seat and would they have had too remove the seatbelt to get the lining down. 8am sharp I will be onto a service manager at the garage. The garage is Arnold clark Hamilton RD Glasgow

Ah arnold clark strike again. Give them a few swear words for me mate. I think the phrase i'm looking for is 'I wouldn't **** on them if they were on fire!' If my garage had done that to me I'd want to meet the mechanic who actually did it!

At least the little plastic part is easily obtainable and sorting the wrong installation of the anchor point is also easy enough.

When I had my rear seat belt off to remove the side boot trim (to sort out a failed parking sensor) I broke said plastic bit and started to had a problem getting the anchor point bolt screwed all the way in. Easy to do but also easy to spot as when you tighten it up the bit that the belt loops through won't then swivel. Sounds like all he's done is gone and just slackened it off a bit!!

The seat belt anchor point on the side of a car can be misleading when refitting... It has a metal washer thingy on the end of the bolt and when you go to tighten the bolt on this it grips on that and then you tighten it a bit more it feels you've stripped the thread on it!

Not so, its just where its pushing the metal washer flush again and just needed to be continued to be tightened properly. I know as this has happened to me twice.

Yep, that's exactly it. I couldn't recall the exact issue from memory but that's it to a tee

i'll kick up hell tommorrow and demand it be fixed while I wait i'm not going to lose another days holiday because of their poor workmanship, I take it, by the comments left so far it will only take 5-10 min to sort out, no need to remove the lining again.
